Benjamin Franklin famously quoted that "in this world, nothing is certain but death and taxes." This statement is definitely true for most emerging markets. Today's chart of the day shows the personal income tax rates (at the highest bracket) for countries in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) nations. Out of these only Russia is spared, having a flat tax rate of 13% applicable to domestic residents. In India, the highest tax bracket kicks off at Rs 0.8 m, and the maximum income tax rate on income is 30.9%, including an education cess of 3%. In China, the highest income tax rate is a whopping 45%. Both India and China pay taxes at a rate, well above their Asian peers. In the Asian region, the average rate remains at just over 23%.

Increase of Expense in owning a Car!

A leading daily carried out an interesting study. It was to establish how expensive it is to own a car in the wake of increasing fuel prices as well as higher interest rates. For the purpose of the study, the daily studied the cost of owning a Maruti Alto that gives fuel efficiency of 14km /liter and is run for 5 years with 12,000 km each year. The study showed that cost of owning and driving such a vehicle has gone up by nearly 14.3% since May 2010, when the Reserve Bank of India aggressively started increasing interest rates. Combine this with higher fuel prices as well as increasing prices of the car itself, it is little wonder why demand for cars has seen a slowdown in recent times. In fact, the Automobile Association expects demand for cars to slowdown even during the otherwise robust fes tive season.

Currently, the auto sector accounts less than 1% of India's gross domestic product, says Majeed, compared with 3.5% in China and 4.5% for the world as a whole. Economists say the automaking could account for 10% of India's GDP by 2016.

1. Translation seems to be having some issue when we try to translate questions from english to tamil.

Global consumer confidence fell in 25 out of 52 countries in Q4 2010 amid unemployment and inflation concerns

India tops the list of CCI index (Consumer Confidence Indicator, one of the Economic Indicators) with 131 points followed by Philippines and Norway in second and third position respecitively.

Also, India is well above the global average of "90 points". The red color bar indicates that the country's CCI has decreased from its Q3 2010.

This survey was conducted by Nielson company globally.

The survey results also shows the asians are confident that their country is not in the recession and expecting a good growth in future. North Americans and Europeans have registered their panic situation in the survey as 84% of North Americans and 69% of Europeans have said "Yes" to the question "Do you think your country is in an economic recession at the moment?"

Fully Comprehensive Auto Insurance

Fully comprehensive auto car insurance is without doubt the most expensive. However, with so many cars financed by finance companies, it is also probably the most common type of auto insurance – as the finance companies make it a requirement that the owner insure their automobile fully comprehensive.

In short, as its name suggests, fully comprehensive auto car insurance insures the owner of the car against all manner of events – from an accident to theft of the car. The upside of this type of insurance is there is no need to show 'fault' in order to claim. So, if you have an accident, which is not your fault, and the owner of the other car, who is at fault, doesn't give you his insurance details, or, worse, is uninsured, you can still claim against your insurance company. Similarly, if your car is stolen, then fully comprehensive insurance allows you to claim against the insurance company.

However, do read your insurance policy carefully, as most auto car insurance companies refuse to insure 100% of the value of a car, choosing instead to only insure 80%, or so, of the value. The auto car insurance companies claim that doing this prevents fraudulent losses of cars where the owner of the car either no longer wants the car, or is encountering financial difficulty.

Third Party, Fire & Theft

Third party, fire & theft auto car insurance is a middle of the road car insurance package popular with those who have already paid off their auto loans, but who still have a certain level of intrinsic value in their car.

Under this type of auto insurance, most of the pay-out events covered under fully comprehensive auto insurance are covered – such as fire & theft. However, in the event of an accident, the insurance company is only required to pay-out if you are at fault, and you hit another car. So, in the event that you hit a wall, or only damage your car, the insurance company will not be required to pay. Likewise, if you are involved in an accident with another car, and are not at fault, your insurance company will not be required to pay-out, regardless of whether or not the other person has sufficient insurance to pay for the damage done to your car.

Third Party Insurance

Third party insurance is the 'basic' type of insurance, and only covers circumstances where you are involved in an accident, are at fault, and hit a third party. In all other events, the auto car insurance company is not required to make a payment. As such, it is also the cheapest type of auto car insurance you can purchase. That said, this type of insurance is usually only purchased by those car owners who have an old car with little or no value.

Specialized Car Insurance

Finally, strictly speaking any car over 25 years old is considered a 'classic'. As such, this type of car should be insured as a classic car – with all of the benefits and requirements of such. Although 'classic' auto car insurance usually has all of the benefits of fully comprehensive auto car insurance, one significant disadvantage that classic car insurance has is that you are usually limited to the number of road miles you can drive in any given year – so check your policy carefully.

Salary Levels of the Banking Chief's in India

ICICI Bank - Receive Funds

The "Receive Funds" facility allows you to move money electronically into your ICICI Bank account from a non-ICICI-Bank account without using a cheque or incurring any other expense. It can be used for both one-time and recurring transfers. The "Receive Funds" facility can be activated for your non-ICICI-Bank account as well as for a third-party non-ICICI-Bank account.

There are four easy steps by which you can receive funds:

Online register the non icici bank account from where you want to pull money, a mandate form will be generated.

Print the mandate form, sign it and attach a cancelled cheque of the account.

Our official will collect this from your communication address and lodge it for registration. Alternatively, you can deposit it into any of our ICICI Bank branches.

On successful registration, you are ready to place request for receiving money from the account online.

Minimum balance of Rs. 5000/- is required to be maintained in a Current Account
Current Accounts (C/As) can be opened by individuals, partnership firms, private and public limited companies, HUFs/ specified associations, societies, trusts etc.
No interest is payable on credit balances in Current Accounts.
The customers may receive the statements of account according to the frequency desired by them.
Cheque books are issued to all Current Account holders and all withdrawals should be made only through issue of cheques. A cheque should not be issued for an amount of less than Rs. 50/-.
A cheque which is presented more than 6 months after the date of issue will be treated as "stale" and shall not be paid. Such cheques shall be paid only after revalidation by the drawer.
Payment of a cheque can be stopped by the drawer, by giving notice in writing to the Bank, mentioning full details of the cheque, before the cheque is presented for payment. The Bank will not pay this cheque after recording 'stop payment' in its books.
Standing Instructions (S.I.) are accepted in Current Accounts.

Note: The service charges/minimum balance requirements are subject to change.

IF you had bought 100 shares of Wipro at the rate of Rs 100 per share in 1980, they would be worth Rs 200 crore (Rs 2 billion) today.

If you had invested Rs 10,000 in Infosys shares in 1992, you would be richer by Rs 1.5 crore (Rs 15 million) today.

If you had invested Rs 1,000 in Ranbaxy in 1980, you would have got Rs 1.9 crore (Rs 19 million) today!

And not so far back in time, if you had invested Rs 40,000 in Unitech during the lows of 2004, your bank account would see a whopping Rs 1.1 crore (Rs 11 million) today!

Some guy out there knew this. Today, he is laughing all the way to the bank. So what was the magic strategy that made this guy so rich? Simple.

He bought, he waited:

Waited for all those share splits and bonus declarations.

Waited for the company to grow from strength to strength.

Waited even when the shares teetered only to recoup in a few years' time.

Just as a child takes time to realise his/ her full potential, so does an investment need time to reward you handsomely.

Sure, the times are uncertain now. But let that not scare you to sell for a loss.

Patience pays:
Look back. You will notice that selling in such times makes no real sense in the longer run. Those who didn't sell their stocks during the May 2006 crash but had, in fact, bought more would be a very happy lot today.

Investing long term is like that: it rewards you handsomely. Always. Exercise patience. As champion broker Rakesh Jhunjhunwala said recently, if you want to learn more about patience, get married!

The way I see it, you don't really need to get married to learn patience. Just look back in time. All these stocks have been multi-baggers for those who stayed on for the long term. They would have fetched you unimaginable returns today.

Do your research:
You will learn a thing or two about making crores from a few lakhs. You can still make those crores!
Turn a deaf ear at the sceptics; look at beaten down sectors.

Consider aviation and hospitality. Today, aviation stocks are way below their lifetime highs. But, as India grows, so will travel. And within the next three years, they will reward you handsomely.

Most people ignore aviation and hotels. And that is why they merit my attention.

Pick up stocks that others are ignoring. People who create wealth do things that others do not. I am sure you could make crores if you do too!
